Vineyardsoft is pleased to announce the availability of the industry’s first Instant Message and Twitter™ Alerts modules in version 8.0 of KnowledgeSync. These modules enable organizations to deliver real-time business alerts to their employees’ desktops and mobile devices, using both Twitter as well as the industry-leading IM solutions.

Instant message delivery means that users no longer have to take any action (such as opening email) in order to be informed. Instead, KnowledgeSync’s Instant Message Alerts (IMA) module automatically pops up a message on the appropriate users’ desktops – giving each user the opportunity to review the contents of that message.

The IMA module also supports “extended-message delivery” so that IM alerts can contain the extended details of any business conditions that occur. The uses of IMA include notifying technical reps about newly-logged support tickets, reminding finance staff about overdue invoices, and alerting the purchasing department about stock approaching reorder level.

IM alerts may be sent via Windows Live Messenger, Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger & ICQ, and version 8.0 lets organizations use multiple IM providers, such as for employees using a corporate IM system during work hours, and a different IM system during non-work hours. Users may also receive “IM Links” where an IM alert includes hyperlinks to dynamically-generated analytics crucial to the decision-making process.

Also introduced in version 8.0, Twitter Alerts operates similarly to IM Alerts in that they allow users to be kept informed about critical business activities. But unlike IM Alerts, Twitter Alerts are ideal for managerial and C-level executives who wish to receive concise, periodic updates on the performance of their business. Among the most popular uses of Twitter Alerts include support staff load balancing, daily sales statistics, and project completion status alerts.

The IM and Twitter Alerts modules in version 8.0 will be available at no additional cost to all new and existing KnowledgeSync clients who are current on their Maintenance & Support contracts. All KnowledgeSync clients and partners will need a new license code – a version 8 license code – in order to run the new version of the software. Version 8 license requests should be sent to license@vineyardsoft.com and must include the name of the organization and name of the server on which KnowledgeSync is installed.

Please also note that the version 8 installation consists of two installation steps; the installation of the Instant Messaging components, followed by installation of the version 8 KnowledgeSync software.
